Where to Run in Cancún: Clubs, Races & Recovery
Where to run in Cancún: the local clubs, the half marathon around Laguna Nichupté, and who to see when something starts to hurt. With contacts.

Running in Cancún has a problem nobody warns you about until you live it: the heat. By seven in the morning it’s already 28°C (82°F) with 80% humidity, and the scenic route through the Hotel Zone is also the one with the least shade.
That’s why almost nobody here runs alone for long. People run in groups, early, with someone who already knows the way. Here’s who makes that possible in the city, and who to see when your body starts sending you the bill.
The Clubs
Cancún Run Club gets it more than anyone else that running here is a social plan, not a punishment. Their outings include a Beach Run that ends in beach volleyball and breakfast on the sand, and a catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres to run on the island. What stood out most to us: some sessions end with a Wellness Stop — ice, stretching, and yoga after the run. That’s exactly the part most runners skip.
RedRunners Cancún works from the other side: they’re a volunteer-run group focused on people just starting out. If you’ve never run five kilometers straight and the idea of a club intimidates you, this is your way in. They’re active on Facebook and on Instagram as @redrunnerscancun.
The Race
The Cancún Half Marathon offers 21K, 10K, and 5K distances, starting and finishing on Av. Bonampak in front of Plaza Malecón Américas, on a route that runs along Laguna Nichupté. The next edition is March 7, 2027, which leaves plenty of time to train for any of the three distances without winging it.
If you want to follow the local calendar and training plans, the blog Cancún Running has been publishing exactly that for years, with its own section for women runners.
When Something Starts to Hurt
This is usually where we come in, but let’s be clear: if there’s already pain, the first step is a diagnosis, not a class.
CRECMOV operates inside MVMT Performance Training Studio, on Av. Tulum, and specializes in running, CrossFit, and HYROX athletes. They’re the local reference for tendinopathies and overuse injuries.
Therion Center, inside Hotel Mura, combines sports physical therapy with post-surgical rehab and a therapeutic spa — an unusual combination for this city.
For nutrition, Lic. Hedgar Manzanero holds a master’s in sports nutrition for elite athletes and an ISAK certification, and sees patients on Av. Nichupté, the same avenue we’re on. Lic. César Sobrado practices at Porto Napoli, in Viocenter, and lists sports coaching among his services.
And for after your run, Santé Juice Bar opens at 7 a.m. in SM 22, just around the corner from Torre Metrópoli.
What Pilates Adds for a Runner
Running is a repetitive, single-plane, high-impact movement: thousands of identical strides. What usually fails isn’t the legs — it’s the hip that doesn’t stabilize and the torso that falls apart around mile eight.
Strength and control work on the reformer addresses exactly that, and physical activity guidelines call for two days of strength training a week on top of the aerobic work. It’s not extra credit — it’s the other half of the plan.
If you’re curious about the difference between stretching and gaining range of motion with control, we cover it in mobility vs. stretching. And if you want to feel what strength work on the reformer is like, any of our 11 packages opens up all 10 disciplines at the studio — if you’re just visiting Cancún, there’s also a 5-day pass with no recurring charge, built for exactly that.
We’re missing people from this list. If you know a club, a route, or a physical therapist in Cancún worth including, let us know and we’ll add them.
